None of my questions are working.
Make sure you are using the name “U Dex” (pronounced “You Decks”) when starting the Ultimate Pokédex. We chose this short abbreviation for “Ultimate Pokédex” for two reasons. First of all, we want to make sure we don’t infringe on any copyright issues for the term “Pokédex”. Secondly, we chose a phrase with 2 syllables (“U Dex”) instead of 6 (“Ul-ti-mate-Po-ke-dex”) so that you can spend more time using the app, and less time starting it.
The Ultimate Pokédex doesn’t understand a Pokémon name.
When the Ultimate Pokédex asks you “Can you repeat it?” say the name of the Pokémon again, by itself. For example:
Alexa, ask the U Dex what’s strong against Wash Rotom.
I don’t understand that Pokémon name. Can you repeat it?
Wash Rotom.
Against Wash Rotom, ground and grass will do double damage.
This problem happens because of a known issue with Alexa. When you submit a request to Alexa directly, the message is passed onto the Ultimate Pokédex skill by only using English dictionary words (“Wash Roatan” in the above example.) Of course, most Pokémon names are not found in the dictionary so the skill sometimes doesn’t find your requested Pokémon by this method. However, when you invoke the second statement (the Pokémon name by itself), this message is interpreted by the Ultimate Pokédex directly. In this case, we are not constrained to only English dictionary words, and can more easily identify your requested Pokémon. We have submitted this issue to Amazon and are hoping they implement a fix in a future Alexa update.
Some of the information is wrong.
Make sure you’ve told the Ultimate Pokédex which Pokémon game you are currently playing. For most people, this will be the most recent series of Pokémon games (“Sun” or “Moon”.) The Ultimate Pokédex retrieves all its Pokémon information from your current game, and some information changes from game to game. For example, Clefairy was Normal type in Pokémon Red (generation 1), but changed to Fairy type in Pokémon X (generation 6).
The Ultimate Pokédex will tell you your current game if you ask it “What’s my current game?”. To change your game, just say “Change my game to Pokémon Sun.” (By the way, Pokémon Sun is the default game when you first start the Ultimate Pokédex.)
